A pair of talented young pitchers from the Oregon Ducks will make the trip from Eugene to Bellingham to join the Bellingham Bells in the summer of 2017. Left-handed hurler Zack Noll from Temecula, Calif. and right-handed pitcher Tristan Duncan from Lakeside, Calif. will suit up for Bellingham this season.

“It’s exciting to announce the signings of two University of Oregon Ducks to our roster,” Bells’ Pitching Coach & Recruiting Coordinator Jim Clem said. “We expect both Zack and Tristan to play key roles on our pitching staff. Both have had a lot of success in their young careers and played in collegiate summer leagues out of high school last summer.”

Prior to becoming a Duck, the six-foot-six-inch Noll excelled at Great Oak High School. Noll was named second team All-California by CalHiSports.com and Perfect Game USA, in addition to being named All-CIF Southern Section following his senior campaign, which saw the left-hander fire 85.2 innings while striking out 98 men and holding a 7-4 record with a 1.23 ERA. Perfect Game rated Noll as one of the top 10 left-handed pitchers in California after his senior season. Noll set a new school record with 189 career strikeouts in three varsity seasons, including 55 as a sophomore, when Noll tossed 69 innings and went 10-0 on the hill with a 1.83 ERA. Noll played last summer in the California Collegiate League for the Conejo Oaks, going 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA in 5 appearances.

Duncan comes to Bellingham after a solid prep career at El Capitan High School. Duncan earned honorable mention All-American and second team All-California from Perfect Game USA following his senior season. Following his senior season, Duncan was rated as one the top 75 players in the state and top 20 right-handed pitchers in California by Perfect Game. During summer 2016, Duncan played for the Medford Rouges of the Great West League, holding a 2.94 ERA in 33.1 innings. Duncan also fanned 23 batters and went 1-2 in 13 appearances on the bump for Medford.

“Zack is a tall LHP, who is known for having very good control of three pitches,” Clem said.  “Tristan is a hard throwing RHP, who also has very good control and sometimes pitches with a lower arm angle, who will be really tough to hit as well. Both are versatile and could be used as either starters or relievers.  They are high character players who will bring a lot to the clubhouse as well. No question that we are really looking forward to having both of these pitchers on our team!”

Noll, Duncan and the 2017 Bells open the regular season against the Gresham GreyWolves on June 2nd at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham.
