ESPN announced “Heroes of the Dorm”, ESPN’s annual tournament broadcasted in the world of eSports, will be scaling back this year.
The show, where American colleges compete in the game “Heroes of the Storm” has been a hit over the years and aired on ESPN2. However, for it’s third year, the tournament will become a Facebook exclusive.
And not only will Facebook Live cover the finals but the entire season. While this will expand the viewership of the competition, it also marks ESPN’s making some big steps away from eSports. Which is huge considering they’re the largest sports broadcaster in the world.
ESPN said they’re still very supportive of “Heroes of the Storm” and are proud of their success, despite no longer being a part of their broadcasting the eSport.
