A.J. Andrews has hit a homerun. Current Akron Racers member and former LSU standout, Andrews has become the first female recipient of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

This year marks 58 seasons of the Gold Glove, being given to 323 male players in nine positions in major league baseball. Andrews has broken the mold and was crowned winner at the National Pro Fastpitch Championship Banquet. She will be honored again this Friday at the Gold Glove Dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Andrews has been a fan favorite since joining the league in 2015. She has earned three All-SEC honors and an All-American nod during her memorable career at LSU. You may also recognize her from ESPN where she’s landed #1, #2 and #3 spots on Sports Center’s Top 10 Play of the Day.

A.J. Andrews finished the NPF regular season tied for most stolen bases (15), held a perfect fielding percentage for the Akron Racers, and crossed the plate 24 times.
